Proluma stimulates new tissue and collagen production gradually. Within the first two weeks, cell proliferation begins as cells attach to the PDLLA particles. By week eight, empty spaces between particles are fully occupied by cells, which start migrating into the porous structure. Between weeks twelve and twenty, cells penetrate deeply, regenerating tissue and increasing volume. This ensures long-lasting correction of wrinkles and folds with natural, durable results.
PDLLA is a non-toxic material that naturally degrades through hydrolysis into lactic acid and glycogen, which are further broken down into carbon dioxide and water, safely eliminated from the body. PDLLA has been FDA approved and classified as Generally Recognized as Safe since 1984.
Proluma should be prepared by mixing sterile water with lidocaine before injection.
